- Health and Safety: Preserve the health, safety, and security of employees and the public. Every job must be done safely, and no activity should commence unless it is considered safe. All staff recognize HSE as a line responsibility and must plan and perform their work accordingly.
- Environmental Protection: Minimize the impact of operations on the environment. Employees are expected to perform their duties in an environmentally friendly manner, ensuring proper waste management and preventing adverse effects on air, water, soil, plants, and animals.
- Community Affairs: Foster a cordial relationship with host communities by engaging a reasonable percentage of the local workforce, respecting local customs and laws, and continuously liaising with community leaders to identify and address their needs.
- Security: Manage security as an integral part of the HSE program to minimize security related issues. This includes engaging trained security personnel, reporting incidents to clients and law enforcement, and adhering to corporate security emergency plans.
- Subcontracting: Engage subcontractors with proven technical competence and ensure their activities meet SGL’s CASHES standards.
- Training and Awareness: Provide comprehensive HSE training and orientation for all employees, promote HSE awareness through slogans and lectures, and implement an HSE incentive program to encourage safe work practices.
- Incident Reporting: Establish a detailed incident reporting procedure covering health, safety, environmental, security, and community affairs. Reports must be made available to clients within 24 hours of each incident.
- Fire Protection and Emergency Evacuation: Comply with all fire prevention standards and ensure functional fire protection equipment is available at strategic locations. Conduct regular fire drills and provide basic firefighting training for employees.
- Equipment, Control and Maintenance: Maintain an equipment register and inspection schedule, ensure proper hygiene and housekeeping, and provide adequate personal protective equipment (PPE) for all personnel.
- LiftingOperationsandWelding/Cutting: Ensure all lifting gear is certified and marked with safe working loads and engage only qualified personnel for welding and cutting.
- DemolitionandExcavation: Supervise demolition work to prevent accidents and ensure excavation work complies with safety standards.
- HSEMeetings: Hold monthly HSE meetings to discuss relevant health, safety, and environmental topics, and ensure all staff participate in toolbox/pep talk meetings before commencing daily work.
